...the Craig Snyder Fusion Group, which played an early-bird special at the Reformation Lutheran Church on Day 7 (aka Thursday). It was odd-metered blues that never left the pocket. And seeing a guitar player with as much chops as Snyder is never a bad way to start a night of music... [ visit blog here ]
Mission Control? The Kahler is Earthbound
You've seen him featured in Guitar Player magazine. Craig Snyder is one of the newest members of the Kahler family. The Craig Snyder Fusion Group is a four piece band led by veteran guitarist, composer, and teacher Craig S Snyder, who calls Rochester, New York his home base. Craig writes the original tunes, selects great jazz and fusion tunes as covers, and directs the band. The CD Earthbound was released in 2006 and is receiving airplay on WGMC 90.1 in Rochester. Craig is an endorser for J3 and Aslindane guitars, Peavey amplifiers, Curt Mangan strings and now Kahler. A true tone freak, Craig sets up and modifies his guitars and strives for the best possible true stereo sound in his live stage setup. Now equipped with a Kahler, Craig is one step closer to euphoria. Learn more about Craig, check out his myspace page here.

Music Reviews | Earthbound
Guitarist Craig S. Snyder is well known in the Rochester area as a performer and teacher. The release of his new album, Earthbound, should increase his reputation as a player and composer to contend with. Earthbound may remind listeners of jazz/fusion albums by artists like John Scofield, Pat Metheny, and Mike Stern. Snyder has a fast, fluid approach to the guitar, with a slightly distorted edge. The tunes are, in equal measures, funky and melodic. As indicated by the title and the cover art (a guitar orbiting the earth, rocket ship style), the album’s theme is space-oriented with song titles like “Orbits” and “Area 51.” Compositions range from furious, rock-oriented fusion (“Never Return”) to power ballads (“Past the Limit”). There is one vocal track, “Say What You Will,” which might seem out of place on an otherwise instrumental album, but it is not unlike music by current fusion favorites Soulive. Snyder also plays bass on five of the tracks; Fred Stone on another five and Dave Pinto on two. Drums are handled by Steve Curry, Mike Plouffe, Jesse Sprinkle and Steve McMurray.

Fresh off the buzz of the Jazz Fest, we received a great new progressive-jazz CD from guitarist Craig S. Snyder entitled Earthbound. Snyder's guitar skills are clearly evident on some of the jamming improvisational segments he comes up with in a more jazz-rock fusion style, while he also gets his groovin' funk on with tracks like the addictive, "Area 51." Snyder even sings, especially shining on the bluesy number, "Say What You Will." Snyder joins forces with a couple excellent area players, bassist Fred Stone, and drummer Mike Plouffe in the live setting (and on parts of this CD) under the moniker, Headlines, and we hope to check them out in concert soon.
